Amythyst Kiah + Foreign Landers
Amythyst Kiah
The Tennessee-raised singer, songwriter, and musician brings her unforgettable voice and unique sound to the stage. Her musical style cuts across genres. She has experience playing in old-time and country bands in Tennessee, and her diverse musical tastes span the likes of pop icons like Michael Jackson and Tori Amos, as well as classic country artists Jimmy Rogers and the Carter Family.
Kiah’s musical expression and songwriting are a raw yet nuanced examination of grief, alienation, and the hard-won triumph of total self-acceptance. Her standout song “Black Myself” earned a Grammy nomination for Best American Roots Song and won the Song of the Year award at the 2019 Folk Alliance International Awards. With the debut Rounder Records release, Wary+Strange, she has toured in Europe and the United States, sharing her experiences through song.
