Midday Mountain Music with Scott Freeman & Willard Gayheart
Every Thursday
12-3 p.m. | Covered Breezeway at Blue Ridge Music Center
Admission Free
Scott Freeman and Willard Gayheart bring authentic mountain tunes to Midday Mountain Music.
Freeman grew up in Mount Airy, NC, the musically-rich hometown of Andy Griffith. In addition to his work as a professional musician, Scott is also a traditional music teacher and musical instructor for Pete Wernick, a.k.a Dr. Banjo. Scott lends his talents to many groups, including the McPeak Brothers, the Crowe Brothers, and the Mountain Home Bluegrass Boys.
Gayheart is a well-known regional artist best known off the stage for his pencil drawings of traditional mountain scenes and musicans. On stage, he is a talented guitarist and songwriter who often incorporates stories of his childhood home in eastern Kentucky into his performances. Ask and he might sing you a song about the Virginia beauty apple or about his Wayne Henderson guitar.
